Terms of Use
Last updated September 2026. Plain language. If anything here contradicts what a page elsewhere on this site says, this page is the one that is wrong and we want to know.
1. What this service is
Brass CNC Parts is a matching service. We receive a request for quote from a buyer, and we introduce that buyer to machine shops that we believe can make the part. We own no machines, we manufacture nothing and we do not resell parts.
We are not a party to any contract between a buyer and a shop. We do not supply the parts, we do not set the price and we take no commission on the order.
2. For buyers
Free. Sending an RFQ and receiving quotes costs you nothing. There is no fee, no membership and no charge at any point.
What we do. We read your request, decide which shops suit it, and pass it to no more than 3 of them. If fewer suit the part we send it to fewer. If none suit it we tell you so, normally within 24 business hours.
What we do not promise. We do not guarantee that you will receive a quote, that any quote will be acceptable, or that a shop will accept your order. We do not verify a shop's quality system, certifications, financial standing or capacity on your behalf, and you remain responsible for qualifying any shop you choose to deal with.
Your contract is with the shop. Price, terms, delivery, quality, warranty and any dispute are between you and the shop. We have no authority to bind a shop and no shop has authority to bind us.
3. For machine shops
Registering is free. You register, you tell us what you run, and we send you previews of requests that match. Registering creates no obligation on either side.
You see a preview before you pay. Each preview describes the part, the alloy, the size, the quantity, the tolerance, the finish, any compliance requirement and the region. It does not carry the buyer's name, company or files. The price of that request is shown on the preview itself, before you decide.
You pay per request you take, not per order you win. We take no commission on anything you subsequently sell to that buyer, then or later.
If a request is not what its preview described, tell us within seven days and we will check it against the preview we sent. The specific remedy is set out in the shop agreement you are given when you register. It is deliberately not stated on this page, because it belongs in that agreement rather than in a page we can edit.
What we ask of you. Quote honestly, decline parts you cannot hold rather than quoting and missing, reply to buyers within a reasonable time, sign an NDA when a buyer asks for one, and keep buyer information confidential. Persistent failure on any of these ends your registration.
4. Your drawings and your intellectual property
You keep every right in the files, drawings, models and specifications you send us. Nothing here transfers ownership of anything to us.
You grant us a narrow permission: to read your files in order to match the request, and to pass them to the shops that take it. Nothing more. We do not use your designs for any other purpose, we do not publish them and we do not use them to train anything.
If you ask for an NDA, we release only the preview until the shop has signed one with you. Files follow after that.
You confirm that you are entitled to send us the files you send, and that doing so does not breach somebody else's rights.
5. Compliance and technical information
The guides, alloy datasheets and calculators on this site are published as general reference. Every alloy figure is a published typical value for the alloy. It is not a promise from any shop, and it is not a lot certificate.
Where we describe a standard such as NSF/ANSI 61, NSF/ANSI 372, ISO 6509 or the RoHS lead exemptions, we are describing what the standard says at the date shown on the page. None of it is legal advice and none of it is a compliance determination. Regulations change, and your obligation to verify the current position against the standard itself and your own advisers does not shift to us because you read a page here.
We hold no certifications and we never state that a shop or a part is certified. Certification attaches to a specific product from a named manufacturer at a named facility, and obtaining it is yours to do.
6. Liability
We provide this service as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from a quote, an order, a part, a delay, a defect or a dispute between a buyer and a shop, because we are not a party to any of them.
We are also not liable for decisions taken on the basis of the reference material on this site. It is offered in good faith and free of charge, and it is not a substitute for your own engineering judgement or your own legal and regulatory advice.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
7. Ending it
A buyer owes us nothing and can simply stop using the service.
A shop can end its registration at any time by emailing . We can end a registration at any time, and we will say why.
Requests already taken, and anything already owed, survive the end of a registration.
8. Changes to these terms
We may change this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes affecting shops are notified by email to registered shops rather than only posted here.

How your data is handled is set out separately in the privacy policy. How the matching actually works, step by step, is on how it works. Why we are paid the way we are is on about.
